Pulley Blocks

Pulley blocks are used in association with wire rope and the effort can be either direct from the operator onto the wire or by winch. The mechanical advantage is dependent on the number of falls of rope in the system. A block of one or more sheaves (pulleys) within a housing, the block can have a fitting of either a hook or shackle attached to it that is used for attaching purposes. With pulley blocks, the load imposed on the supporting structure and equipment that connects the block to the structure is increased by the hoisting effort.
